Jason Clarke, Lea Seydoux, Ben Whishaw and Olivia Coleman are set to star in “The Lobster,” Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos’ English-language debut, according to THR.
The dystopian drama is described as an unusual romantic drama and is set in a world where singles are forced to find a partner in 45 days or else they get turned into an animal and released into the woods. And you thought the Hunger Games were tough! “The Lobster” follows a man who escapes into the “loners’ woods” before he’s transformed into an animal. Filming is set to begin in Ireland in March.
Clarke is one of our Faces to Watch in 2013 after impressing last year in John Hillcoat’s “Lawless” and particularly Kathryn Bigelow’s “Zero Dark Thirty.” This year he’s already starred in “The Great Gatsby” and “White House Down” and he recently wrapped “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” as well as “Child 44.”
Seydoux can soon be seen in Cannes Palme d’Or winning “Blue is the Warmest Color” opposite newcomer Adele Exarchopoulos. Her English-language credits include “Midnight in Paris” and “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.” She’ll also be seen in Wes Anderson’s next, “Grand Budapest Hotel.”
Whishaw played gadget master Q in the newest Bond flick “Skyfall” opposite Daniel Craig and is expected to reprise the role for “Bond 24.” He’s currently filming the role of American novelist Herman Melville in Ron Howard’s maritime disaster flick “In the Heart of the Sea” opposite Chris Hemsworth.
